CINCINNATI -- A season opener in Chicago, a home opener against the Brewers and eight Interleague matchups against American League Central clubs highlight the Cardinals' 2015 schedule, which was released on Monday.
The Cardinals and Cubs will meet in the season opener at Wrigley Field for the first time since 1991, and that game will kick off the MLB regular season on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball (April 5) at 7 p.m. CT. After three games in Chicago, the Cardinals will wrap up their season-opening road trip with three games in Cincinnati. The team will then welcome the Brewers (April 13-16) and Reds (April 17-19) to town for the season's first homestand at Busch Stadium.
First pitch for the Cardinals' home opener against the Brewers is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. CT.
The Cardinals will host four AL Central teams, beginning with the Tigers from May 15-17. The Royals (June 12-14), Twins (June 15-16) and White Sox (June 30-July 1) come to town later in the season. The Cardinals will make Interleague trips to Cleveland (May 12-14), Kansas City (May 22-24), Minnesota (June 17-18) and Chicago (July 21-22).
That July series against the White Sox will be the Cardinals' only road games from July 13-Aug. 3. The four-day All-Star break falls during that stretch. The club's schedule then turns road-heavy, with 16 of 25 games from Aug. 4-30 to be played on the road. That includes the longest of the team's three three-city road trips, a jaunt through San Diego, Arizona and San Francisco.
Before closing the season with an Oct. 2-4 series in Atlanta, the Cardinals will play 26 straight games against National League Central opponents. They will host the Reds (Sept. 21-23) and Brewers (Sept. 24-27) during the final homestand.
