Mark Ellis to begin injury rehab assignment


ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 13, 2014 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to today's game that they have sent infielder Mark Ellis to Memphis (AAA) on a 20-day injury rehabilitation assignment. Ellis, who is suffering from left knee patella tendinitis, began the season on the 15-day disabled list.

Ellis, 36, appeared in 12 games during spring training - the last on March 26.   Memphis is slated to host the Iowa Cubs this afternoon at AutoZone Park.
