Cardinals Recall LHP Tyler Lyons


The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have recalled left-handed pitcher Tyler Lyons from Memphis (AAA) and optioned left-hander Sam Freeman to Memphis.

Lyons, 25, has made seven starts for the Cardinals this year, going 2-4 with a 5.35 ERA. The rookie left-hander's season mark at Memphis stands at 7-2 with a 4.39 ERA in 16 games started (98.1 IP) with 84 strikeouts. His most recent start for Memphis came last Saturday (August 10) at Reno. His last outing for the Cardinals was a start at Pittsburgh during Game 2 of doubleheader against the Pirates when he allowed four runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings pitched.
