Molina closing in on Posey in All-Star voting

Yadier Molina is closing the gap, but Buster Posey still has a hold on the National League's starting catcher spot in the latest All-Star vote totals.

Posey leads the position with 2,606,434 votes and Molina, who has the NL's best batting average, isn't far behind, leading all Cardinals players with 2,543,588 votes. Both Posey and Molina are the top two vote-getters, not only at their position, but in the entire NL. Molina has gained ground on Posey each week and needs just 62,846 votes to catch him.

After claiming the third of three outfielder spots last week, Carlos Beltran continued his rise up the ranks and has surpassed Justin Upton and Bryce Harper as the top outfielder with 2,385,240 votes. Matt Holliday and Jon Jay also moved up the outfielder ballot at sixth and 13th, respectively.

Matt Carpenter is still in the mix at second base, remaining in third with 1,508,314 votes, trailing just Brandon Phillips (2,021,277) and Marco Scutaro (1,717,875). Allen Craig and David Freese rank third in the voting at first and second base, respectively, and Pete Kozma remains at fourth in the shortstop race.

For the second straight week, every Cardinals position player is represented on the ballot's leaderboard.

Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or via a mobile device -- using the 2013 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot until Thursday, July 4, at 10:59 p.m. CT.
