ST. LOUIS, MO., May 7, 2013 - The St. Louis Cardinals announced this afternoon that first baseman Matt Adams has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and that he will be in uniform for tonight's series opener in Chicago. The Cardinals optioned infielder Jermaine Curtis to Memphis (AAA) following Sunday's game.

Adams had been disabled since April 22 due to a strained right oblique. He batted .250 (3-for-12) with a double and two RBI in three games at Springfield (AA) during an injury rehabilitation stint this past weekend.

Adams got the 2013 season off to a terrific start, batting .542 (13-for-24) with 3 HR's and 8 RBI in his eight games played prior to going on the D.L.
