Cardinals Activate David Freese For Home Opener

|

The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to today's home opener against the Cincinnati Reds that they have activated third baseman David Freese from the 15-day disabled list and optioned infielder Ryan Jackson to Memphis (AAA).  Freese had been on the disabled list since March 23 due to a lower back strain.

Freese appeared in three games at Memphis this past weekend in an injury rehabilitation assignment and batted .333 (4-for-12) with two doubles and four RBI.  He was 3-for-5 in yesterday's series finale against Oklahoma City.
