Rzepczynski reportedly hit near eye by golf ball

VIERA, Fla. -- According to a report in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Cardinals reliever Marc Rzepczynski suffered an injury when a golf ball struck him near his left eye on Friday.

The lefty was listed to pitch for St. Louis on Saturday, but according to the Post-Dispatch, he will not make that appearance. Rzepczynski had just returned to the mound on Thursday after sitting out a week while nursing tightness in his left biceps.

The Cardinals have not stated how long this issue could sideline Rzepczynski, who is projected to be one of two lefties in the bullpen. Rzepczynski signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal this winter after becoming arbitration-eligible for the first time.
