Cardinals and Dodgers complete trade

The St. Louis Cardinals announced today that they have acquired minor league infielder Jake Lemmerman from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for outfielder/infielder Skip Schumaker.

"On behalf of the entire Cardinals' organization, I want to thank Skip for his professionalism and many contributions to our ballclub during his 12-year association," stated Cardinals Senior Vice President/General Manager John Mozeliak. "Skip helped provide many great memories for Cardinals fans and we wish he and his family all the best with the Dodgers."

The Cardinals received Lemmerman, 23, who in 2010, following his 5th round draft selection out of Duke University, was named the Pioneer League (R) MVP. Lemmerman batted .363 with 12 homers and 47 RBI in 66 games for Ogden that season.

The 6-1, 192-pound shortstop continued his success the following season in 2011, earning selection to the California League (A) All-Star team after batting .293 with 8 homers and 54 in 103 games at Rancho Cucamonga.

The right-handed hitting Lemmerman spent his first full season at Double-A in 2012, batting .233 with 7 HR's and 46 RBI in 116 games with Chattanooga - including a .327 clip vs. lefties.
