ST. LOUIS -- It didn't take Brett Wallace long to start climbing the Cardinals' ladder of success.
Wallace, the Arizona State third baseman taken by St. Louis in the first round of the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, has been promoted to Double-A Springfield from Class A Quad Cities on Tuesday.
Wallace, the 13th-overall pick, earned the quick promotion by hitting .327 with a .490 slugging percentage in 153 at-bats with five homers and 25 RBIs against Midwest League pitching.
The 6-foot-1, 245-pound Wallace hit .404 for Arizona State in 2007 and was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year.
