Cardinals trio receives GIBBY Awards

ST. LOUIS -- Lance Berkman, David Freese and general manager John Mozeliak each received their 2011 GIBBY (Greatness in Baseball Yearly) Awards during a pregame ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Major League Baseball's GIBBY winners are selected annually based on votes by fans at MLB.com, media, front-office personnel and MLB alumni.

Berkman was named baseball's comeback player of the year following a 2010 season in which injuries hampered his performance. In his first year with the Cardinals, Berkman rebounded to hit .301 with 31 homers and 94 RBIs.

Mozeliak earned Executive of the Year honors in recognition of the work he did to construct a championship roster. Freese was voted the Most Valuable Player of the postseason. His ninth-inning triple to extend Game 6 of the World Series was selected as the top postseason moment.
