Orioles at the plate: Aubrey Huff and Paul Bako each had two hits and an RBI. Melvin Mora doubled and scored, and Huff also doubled. Kevin Millar reached base twice on a pair of walks and scored a run.

Cardinals at the plate: Albert Pujols, who entered the game with a .234 spring average, smacked a pair of singles in three at-bats to climb to .260. Chris Duncan picked up an RBI single, and Aaron Miles singled, walked and scored.

Orioles on the mound: Adam Loewen pitched five fine innings. The left-hander allowed four hits and no runs, struck out five and issued a pair of walks. Chad Bradford gave up a run on three hits, but avoided a big inning.

Cardinals on the mound: Adam Wainwright retired the first 10 hitters in order before running into some trouble in the fourth and fifth. He still emerged with only one run on three hits, with three strikeouts and two walks. Jason Isringhausen allowed a run, while Russ Springer pitched a 1-2-3 seventh.

Grapefruit League records: Orioles 11-9; Cardinals 11-8.

Up next: The Cardinals play at home on Thursday in a matchup of Opening Day starters and Cy Young hopefuls, with Chris Carpenter going against Dontrelle Willis at 12:05 p.m. CT. The O's will head up to Vero Beach for a 12:05 p.m. start, sending Steve Trachsel to the mound against Brett Tomko.
