The Cardinals' exhibition game against their Double-A affiliate that was scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled because of predicted poor weather.
There's a silver lining, though, for Springfield, Mo.-area fans: the Cardinals have announced they will schedule two exhibition games at the Springfield Cardinals' Hammons Field next season.
"We are very disappointed that we have to cancel the exhibition game, but we have a responsibility to ensure that our players have safe playing conditions," Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said. "Given the forecast, we do not feel we have any other choice than to cancel the game."

"We enjoy such great fan support in Springfield," manager Tony La Russa said. "I know the players are particularly disappointed, but this is the right call."
Rain and temperatures in the low- to mid-30s were predicted for game time.
Fans who purchased tickets for Tuesday's game will receive a voucher in the mail entitling them to a ticket to a 2011 St. Louis Cardinals game at Busch Stadium or a 2011 Springfield Cardinals game at Hammons Field -- one voucher for each ticket they purchased.
Fans who purchased tickets will also automatically receive the same number of tickets they purchased for the canceled exhibition game for one of next year's exhibition games. Those tickets will be in the same location currently held at the Springfield ballpark and will be mailed to the original ticket buyer prior to next season.
Ticket refunds will also be issued at Hammons Field, but buyers who receive a refund will not have guaranteed or priority for a seat in 2012.
"While we are disappointed that we will not be able to showcase the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals at Hammons Field on Tuesday, we are excited that they will be back for two games in 2012," Springfield Cardinals vice president and general manger Matt Gifford said. "Cardinal fans are the best in the country and I'm sure they will be saddened with this news, but I hope they understand the unusual circumstances."
As part of the Cardinals' planned visit to Hammons this year, the big league team was to help raise money for the Miracle Field at Dan Kinney Park in Springfield, providing an accessible ballfield for the disabled. The big league Cardinals will honor their commitment by signing jerseys to be auctioned before a Springfield home game.
