Cardinals finalize 2011 coaching staff

The Cardinals finalized their coaching staff for the 2011 season, announcing that Derek Lilliquist has been named the bullpen coach. Mike Aldrete will return as the assistant hitting coach, the club also revealed.

Greg Hauck has been promoted to head athletic trainer, while longtime head trainer Barry Weinberg will assume duties as assistant athletic trainer.

Lilliquist, 44, has been the team's pitching coordinator for the past three seasons, working at the club's Spring Training complex in Jupiter, Fla. He was the pitching coach for the Palm Beach Cardinals (Class A) for four years (2004-07) and a coach at Class A Peoria in 2003, as well as rookie league affiliate Johnson City in 2002. Lilliquist spent five-plus years in the Major Leagues, notching 25 wins. In 1992 with the Indians, he had a 1.75 ERA in 71 appearances.

The 2011 season will be Aldrete's fourth as the team's assistant hitting coach.
